For the purposes of this short paper, I am going to address the impact of interest rates and consumer confidence for the housing and retail market.

This survey measures households perception of general business conditions, available jobs in the households local area, and expected personal family income in the coming six months. (Farnham, 2010) This index is considered to be one of the most accurate indicators of confidence for consumers. A drop in the CCI indicates pessimism in the consumer area.
