The problem with domestic violence, aside from the obvious issues of physical and emotional abuses that are incurred as a result is the public's unawareness of how this issue is effecting men as seriously, if not more so, as it is effecting women. Whether the reasoning behind such biased assumptions is a result of ignorance, or facts that have been shared consistently with the public about women being the sole victims of domestic violence, this does not negate the fact that "A 2007 survey sponsored by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control of young adults found that 71 percent of the instigators in nonreciprocal partner violence were women" (Mahnkey, No date). Furthermore, there are a significant amount of studies and surveys that have been conducted which sufficiently suggests that women are twice as likely as men to engage in some form of domestic v
