The Cast of Amontillado may have been a bit dark,but he was still a good author. I guess I found his life interesting and mysterious because of theway he lived and the way he died. Edgars life was apparently dark and dreary and he was a littlementally unstable and depressed, which is what inspired his dark stories, such as The Cask ofAmontillado. Edgar was an orphan at a very young age of three years old and he had a lot ofproblems with drugs, alcohol, gambling, and battled with poverty. He married his 15 year oldcousin and died mysteriously at the age of 40. A lot of his poems were about madness anddeath and he apparently loved to talk about traveling.I am most familiar with The Cask of Amontillado and even though it was dark andmurderous, it was deep and I felt like I could really feel Poes pain.
