Also, they are a possible danger to the environment as theycause air pollution and destroy the ecosystem around the affected area.The Baltimore tunnel fire was caused by a train that was carrying hazardous materials,which include hydrochloric acid, glacial acetic acid, hydrofluoric acid, propylene glycol,trypropylene and ethyl hexyl phthalate. Some of these materials are highly corrosive while othersare combustible. The presence of these materials and the location of the train made the effort tocontain the fire harder. Nevertheless, the interagency cooperation led to the incidents success.Communication and coordination of the resources were other factors that resulted in the successof the event.
