However, the twopoems have some similarities and differences in the manner that their ideas are built. In thispaper, I will show the similarities and dissimilarities of the survivor in the two poems.The poem Dover Beach is considered as a dramatic monologue. The word Beach asused in the title of this poem is found to be more meaningful than the word Dover, incomparison of the points used to build the ideas of the poem. The poem begins by taking us to aroom, (probably in an inn) where the poet and his lover/wife are living while celebrating theirhoneymoon (Ackroyd & Peter pg22) The poet who is also known as Arnold looks outsidethrough the window and spots a scene about twenty-six miles away. The beautiful scene attractsArnold's attention, who in return calls his lover to move closer and enjoy watching it togetherwith him. The poet describes this scene as calm, attractive with the blinking moon and with calmsea. As they enjoy the moments, Arnold insists by telling his lover to listen to the growlingSurname 2sound of the sand beach as the waves move in and out dragging the loose pebbles
