The writing involved research and therefore came up with a group ofresearchers and formed a team. The team carried out the research by comparing companies thatare good, and those that moved from good to great. They then tried to look at the similarities inthese companies in order to find out what characteristics they possessed. The companies theychose had to possess the good to great trend despite the trend in the industry.If a company was experiencing that due to the fact that the industry was also developing,they dropped the company. The research concentrated on companies that showed greatimprovement in market share in a period of fifteen years and above. They used two sets ofcompanies to do comparisons. The first set was companies that were in the same industry withthe same resources and facing same challenges at the same time frame and showed noimprovement to greatness.
