When the war was complete and African Americans were freed from servitude, itbecame a time of revolution within the country. The biggest change was the integration ofimmigrants into society without segregation. However, people of a different race were not theonly ones to speak out with a voice. Women who had worked hard throughout the ages, and wereespecially essential throughout the war realized that they deserved just as much freedom andrecognition as men in our country. While women are still considered the weaker sex, there havebeen many distinct events which have changed the rules of society for women. Women are nolonger expected to remain homemakers, women are allowed to serve in our military, and womenare allowed to vote. In regards to the events that have occurred which changed the face of oursociety; we will be discussing those in length throughout this review of the history of the rise ofthe American woman.The first major event that happened which changed society for women was the WomensRights Convention held in Seneca Falls in 1848.
