Tutor description

Your are a microbiologist. The owner of a restaurant hires you to examine a sample of preserved vegetables that appears to have spoiled in its can. The metal can only contains vegetables and water. Date:Name of the experiment- Investigating bacterial growthPurpose of the experiment- To find if the bacteria can survive the canning process and cause thesides of the can to bulge.Hypothesis- I think some bacteria can grow in the absence of oxygen.ProcedureEquipment required-Three vials for three bacteria-Six test tubes-Medium A for aerobic conditions and medium B for anaerobic condition-Inoculating loops-Biohazard container-Indicator set at 37CWe collect three types of bacteria in three vials. In Vial 1 we add B. stearothermophilus, in vial 2we add C. sporogenes and in vial 3 we add E.coli. We take six test tubes. In three test tubes wetake medium A, which is a standard medium used for growing bacteria in the aerobic conditions. In the other three test tubes we take medium B, which is a special medium that producesanaerobic conditions by binding with oxygen. The screw cap is tightly closed to avoid noadditional. However, some oxygen is trapped in the tube between the cap and the medium. Anindicator is added in the medium that turns light pink when it comes in contact with the oxygen. We use sterile inoculating loops to transfer the bacteria f
