The lesson plan will be designed for a seventh grade social studies student and will involve the learners watching the movie North and South in order to enable them to develop a better understanding of the plight of the American citizen and the slave during this era in American history. The constructivist lesson plan draws upon the students' real-world experience and their ability to connect this knowledge with the information being learned. The first step in developing the lesson plan is determining the content and deciding what design would best promote student learning. This includes determining what concepts students should understand at the end of the lesson and what measurements will be used to assess student knowledge of the learned concepts.
