His compositions are notable for their sophisticated textures,rich orchestration and harmonies in addition to his elaborate and explicit use of leitmotifs. Hisadvances in his choice of musical language included chromaticism before he quickly shifted totonal centers all of which has had significant influence on development of classical music(Gregor-Dellin 46).As aforementioned, Wagner was born on 22nd May 1813 to a German family in Leipzigthat had an ethnic background. He was the ninth child of Fredric Carl Wagner, a father whoserved as a clerk in the Leipzig police service. Wagners mother was also a German, JohannaRosina.
