Society is organized into particular societal functions and structures. The social organization includes every normative aspect of society. This includes ideas, religious beliefs, knowledge, music, techniques, achievements, traditions, aspirations, art, and many other aspects that make up the social organization. Social disorganization is the result of disturbed relationships and negative changes in the normative structure of society. Organized crime groups thrive off social disorganization. When society fails to provide the proper social restraints or social institutions to avoid a subculture of crime from emerging organized crime groups take advantage of these failures. In other words social disorganization facilitates organized crime by setting the stage for the perfect criminal subculture that will adopt and accept further criminal behaviors (2009). The criminal subculture emerges in areas of high neglect and where break down of social control has occurred. When the criminal element emerges in a community its members become more vulnerable to the manipulations and pressures of the organized crime group.
