In other words crime is caused by biological processes, such as genetics, but is further compounded by the social environment of the juvenile delinquent. Based on the biosocial theory the juvenile is not born with a clean slate but is instead born with biological tendencies. Theorist Edward Wilson found people are biosocial organisms and there behavior is influenced by their social environment and the different conditions they face in this environment (Yaralian, 2001). People are not solely controlled by their biological urges but also need the influence social factors and conditions. In the past biological theories solely blamed biological processes of the body but after discovering other people with similar biological flaws did not commit crimes the theory was extended to include social influences and conditions.
