The platonic love the two have for each other helps Gilgamesh become a better leader to his people by allowing him to better understand and identify with them. When considered in tandem with the theme of death in the poem, love and friendship can be viewed not only as a part of life, but as a necessary component to give existence meaning. GILGAMESHDEATHGilgamesh was a tyrant king of Uruk. He used to terrify his people because of his strengths and powers. Gilgamesh considered himself a mortal. He never thought about his death. He never even thinks that as days are passing his life is ending. His formation of one third god never let him think or even consider about death. In ignorance of death full of power he made ruthless rules which were hell for people of Uruk. He made a custom in his rule that every bride after her marriage will spend her first night with him. And he will have sex with her before her husband. Because of his fear no one have the guts and power to go against the rule made by Gilgamesh. People of Uruk cried in front of Anu, the supreme god to help them get them out from such situation. Anu ordered Aruru (the Sumerion creator goddess) to create an opponent who defeats Gilgamesh and so can people of Uruk get rid of him. The goddess take a ball put him in Cedar forest and results in birth of Enikdu. He was a half animal and half human lived in forest and hunts and eats the sheep. A hunter effected by Enkidu seek Gilgamesh to tell him about Enkidu and his attacks on his animals and also about the lake from which Enkidu drank water which was used by the hunter [Tony Garone ].
