Kennedy was riddled with successes and failures both in domestic policy and in foreign policy. He proposed many new policies and programs to congress, few of which passed. One of the programs that Kennedy managed to push through congress was the Peace Corps. This program is a volunteer organization that sent young Americans overseas to work in third world countries1. These people would help with the education of the native people, farming, provided health care, and constructed houses and other buildings for the locals. This program allowed the people of other countries to get to know Americans and allowed Americans to experience different cultures. This was one of Kennedys relatively successful domestic policy programs. Civil rights is an area in which Kennedy did not do very much. During his presidency nothing much was accomplished in the way of civil rights. Kennedy supported racial integration and civil rights and enforced the law when he was forced to, but otherwise not many proposals were made on his part concerning this matter. An example would be in 1963, when George Wallace, governor of Alabama, refused to allow Black students into the University of Alabama. President Kennedy sent U.S. Marshalls and the National Guard to ensure that the students were allowed entry and kept safe. One of Kennedys more success
