Some of his policies were centered around his opposition to the Second Bank of the United States, but his best efforts went to the policies concerning Indian removal. When in the army he fought against Indians alongside Indians; however, he did not care for the Indians he fought with or against. In his first term Jackson supported the Tariff Bill of 1828, states rights, and was against nullification. In his second term he was a supporter of Indian removal and against the Second Bank of the United States. I will be concentrating on the court cases involving Indian removal and their significance, also Jackson's policy of Indian removal and the consequences that had for the Indians.The main cases in the time of Indian removal were Cherokee Nation vs. the State of Georgia and Worcester vs. the State of Georgia. The United States Supreme Court upheld the 'rights' of the Cherokees against Georgia, only to have the state flout each decision1 (Van Deusen). One dealt with the Cherokee Nation declaring themselves sovereign and the other concerning the state's right to license people to live on Cherokee land.
