Case Study SASCompany OverviewSAS stands for Statistical Analysis System and is a computer program of statistical software originally created in order to help agricultural researchers. Back when it was created in 1970 it responded to the issue of having to write a new computer program every time there was the need to analyze data. Soon the North Carolina State University realized its potential and upon presenting it at the SAS Users Conference in 1976, 300 customers had already lined up. With its commercial potential revealed, SAS received further development in the 1980's and 90's, with new additional features being added. In 2004 an easier to use interface was implemented and social media was added in 2010. Soon students also saw the introduction of a free version and in the following years other important additions were implemented. As of 2012, SAS was the largest market share holder in the field of advanced analytics with 36.2%. Furthermore, SAS is also the fifth biggest market share holder at BI software and according to a study from BMC Health Services Research,it is the leading tool of data analyses in health service research.
