These are leaves, stem and roots. The leaves make food for the plant through photosynthesis and take it down to the roots through the stem. The stem also carries water and mineral salts from the ground to the leaves. The stem also holds the tree firmly to the ground and upright for the leaves to receive sunlight and carbon dioxide for photosynthesis. It also holds the flowers up from the ground to allow pollination to occur and fruit growth. The diagram below shows a structure of a typical flowering plant.Fig. 1 Structure of a typical flowering plant.LeafA leaf is part of the plant that is responsible of absorbing sunlight from the sun. This allows the plant to make food by photosynthesis. The figure below shows a typical leaf of a plant.Fig. 2. A Leaf of a plantStemThe stem holds the plant upright. It acts as a transport of water and mineral salts from the roots and also carries food from the leaves to the roots. To perform all these duties, a stem has tubes called vascular bundles which link all the parts of the plant making it one
