I have elucidated briefly some of the important aspects of their business models in order to build a better model. Interestingly almost all of them have the same business model as given the chart that explains the business model of Archer Daniels Midland Co (ADM).

The interesting aspect of the food business is that these integrated food companies are present in a number of parts of the food supply chain. I have elucidated briefly some of the important aspects of their business models in order to build a better model. Interestingly almost all of them have the same business model as given the chart that explains the business model of Archer Daniels Midland Co (ADM). Archer Daniels Midland CoThe company also referred to as ADM is one of the larger players in the integrated food business. It employs nearly 28,000 people and has more than 230 processing plants and operates in over 60 countries. It is present in a number of different segments in food business. Its net sales at the end of its fiscal year (ending 30 June 2009) were US$69 billion. Its business are spread over crop origination (including growing), transportation, branded foods, animal feed, biofuels, chemicals, etc (some of which are briefly mentioned below. Over the past two years, the company has been ranked by Fortune as the most admired in the industry. It ranked first in seven out of the nine spots over which the rankings were conducted. These nine segments included innovation, use of corporate asset, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long term investment and quality of products/services.
