PalladinoLight, Color, wavelength, Absorption and ReflectionIntroduction:Spectroscopy is a method used in laboratories to measure the absorbance or transmittance of radiation within the visible or ultraviolet region. For each wavelength there is a corresponding color. These colors range from violet which is typically found in wavelengths between 400-435 nm to red which is about 650-750nm. For every wavelength that exists within the visible and ultraviolet region there is some sort of filter made. When speaking in terms of spectroscopy within the lab there are two main types of filters; both absorbance and interference filters. For this lab the focus was on absorbance filters. Absorbance filters used within the visible and ultraviolet region function to absorb a multitude of wavelengths and to only allow very specific wavelengths to pass through and transmit a band of light. For example, an absorption filter that only transmits a band of green light. The photons of the green light were of the correct wavelength allowing the light to pass through, whereas all other colors were absorbed.By examining different colored filters, it was quite clear that each and every person perceives colors to be different. Thus a product called a spectrophotometer, which provided a more accurate reading because it got rid of human error caused by differences in color. The typical arrangement of a single beam consists of just a few ba
