With an average score of seven out of ten there were definitely questions that offered some degree of surprise to me (Henry, 2015). The first question is number one; it is surprising to learn that the United States of America Spends less than 1% of its fiscal budget on global health programs. As such, only $8.8 billion is spent on global health programs by the U.S. Government (Henry, 2015). The meaning of PEPFAR came as a bit of shock to me; PEPFAR does not refer to a food relief program, but to a HIV/AIDS eradication program commissioned by the U.S. Government (Henry, 2015). It was interesting to find out that the U.S. spends 80% of $8.8 billion on health issues in Africa. The third and final question that surprised me was number five; it is shocking that HIV/AIDS is not the greatest killer disease in Africa neither is Malaria. The true killers in Africa are Pneumonia and Lower Respiratory Diseases (Henry, 2015). Another interesting fact is that 99% of all infant deaths below 5 years take place in developing countries.
