While the legal consequences for shoplifting would not be a pleasant the ramifications from family and friends discovering the crime would be difficult to face. When an individual commits a crime such as shoplifting they will be subject to the criminal justice process and if found guilty will have to pay a fine and may have to serve time in jail. When an individual commits a crime and has to admit their immoral behavior to friends and family the ramifications would be more on a personal level. Facing friends and family to inform them that you are guilty of committing a crime can be embarrassing and painful. With family members there is the burden of embarrassing them or causing them pain as well as the risk of them losing respect and being disappointed because of the criminal act of shoplifting.
