Science designed this process to ensure accurate valid results. If the hypothesis that is developed is not consistent with the results it will be modified. The first step is clearly expressing the problem. The scientist will then record through observation the possible variables of the problem (Lafferty, 2008). The next step is to form a hypothesis. This is when the scientist makes an educated calculation about the problem. They will try to determine an outcome through the knowledge they have gained during the observation process. In order to determine if the hypothesis is correct it must first be tested. This is the experimentation step of the scientific process. The scientist will conduct experiments to determine the strength of the hypothesis. Once the experiment is complete the scientist will draw a conclusion. If the experiment has negative results the hypothesis will need to be adjusted. The problem is it is late at night and a woman has just arrived home.
