Tutor description

In order for a DC motor to operate, the armature must be immersed in a magnetic field. This allows moving charge in the armature to generate force. How this magnetic field is generated however, is immaterial. Permanent magnets as well as current-carrying coils can provide this field.

Preliminary physicsThe world communicates1. Describe the energy transformations required in one of the following mobile phone, fax/modem, radio and televisionMobile phoneSound energy Describe waves as a transfer of energy disturbance that may occur in one, two in three dimensions, depending on the nature of the wave and the mediumWaves are transfer of energy that may occur in one, two or three dimensions. Different waves can travel in different number of dimensions. A longitudinal wave is one dimensional. A transverse and water wave is two dimensional. Sound and electromagnetic waves are three dimensional.Identify that mechanical waves require a medium to propagate while electromagnetic waves do notMechanical waves require a medium to propagate.Electromagnetic waves do not require a medium to propagate.Define and apply the following terms to the wave model: medium, displacement, amplitude, period, compression, rarefaction, crest, trough, transverse waves, longitudinal waves, frequency, wavelength, velocityMedium material in which a wave is propagatingDisplacement distance in which the waves move the medium particles from its equilibrium positionAmplitude the amplitude of a wave is the maximum displacement from its rest position. For a transverse wave, the amplitude is half the distance between a crest and a trough measured perpendicular to the direction of travel. The amplitude of a sound wave determines how loud the sound isPeriod the
