Humanistic psychologist developed a new theory that was not focused solely on behavior as in the behavioral theories or the mental process as in psychodynamic theories and instead is more focused on individual's behavior and personal choices. The Humanistic Theory finds that people are basically good and not solely a product of their environment. This theory is more holistic and focuses more on individual perception and their inner feelings and self-image. Based on this theory every human is internally motivated to fulfill their human potential and only interruptions in the social environment can interrupt this natural drive. The humanistic theory is subjective finding that each individual s response to certain events or situations is completely personal. It also has its ethnocentric limitation because it is based around the Western view point. In order for the humanistic viewpoint to gain the strength of the behavioral and psychodynamic viewpoints it needs to be less vague and should pertain to all members of society.
