He was the only child of a patriotic Polish couple who lived in the southern Polish Ukraine. Conrad's father Apollo was a translator of Shakespeare, in addition to he was also a poet and a man of letters in Poland, likewise Conrad's mother Evelinawas also polite lady with a devoted mind but with weak health. In 1895 following a sea-faring career Conrad began his literary work and published his first novel,"Almayer's Folly" (1895) which received mostly positive reviews.In March 1896 he married to Jessie Emmeline George (1873-1936) and blessed with two sons, Borys (b.1898) and John (b.1906). At that time he was retired and sincerely writing, his work was published first in Blackwood's,Munsey' sandHarper's.
