New technology has improved the ability of the terrorist group to spread their terroristic message and garner the support to conduct terrorist attacks across the globe. In order to ensure that America and its citizens are not once again attacked by terrorists the Busch administration established Homeland Security and enacted legislation, such as the USA Patriot Act, that broadened the investigatory capabilities of law enforcement in order to identify and investigate potential terroristic threats and addresses terrorist financing. There have been many different laws put into place since 9/11 to track the activities of the terrorists as well as to alert police to potential terrorist activity and any financial transactions. The Financial Anti-Terrorism Act of 2001 was enacted by the US government in order to track the financial activities of terrorist groups (Oxley, 2001). The law strengthens the ability of law enforcement to identify terrorist funds, confiscate the funds, and punish the guilty offenders.
