This problem is not only confined to America but it is a problem that affects almost two hundred countries across the globe and 2.6 million victims and 1.2 million of those victims being children (UN, 2008). Sex traffickers use coercion, violence, and manipulate their victims and will use threats of force against the victim or their family, physical restraint, and physical violence to ensure the victim compliance. Sex trafficking result in a human rights violation of the victim and is basically modern day slavery. The sex trafficked victim could be a male or a female and from all different types of ethnic or racial backgrounds but the majority of these victims are female. The majority of child sex trafficked victims are from Asian countries followed by Latin America and the Caribbean. While America has a major sex trafficking problem when it comes to the sex trafficking of children the country is well down the list of countries experiencing these problems. Despite the growing child sex trafficking industry the enactment of international and national laws to prevent this problem have failed to stop or even slow down the child sex industry.
