On September 6, 1923, Father Sancho Abadia, parish priest of Talisay, Cebu, executed a document purporting to be his Last Will and Testament. He died on January 14, 1943, in the municipality of Aloguinsan, Cebu, where he was an evacuee. He left properties estimated at P8,000 in value. On October 2, 1946, one Andres Enriquez, one of the legatees, filed a petition for its probate in the Court of First Instance of Cebu. Some cousins and nephews who would inherit the estate of the deceased if he left no will, filed opposition.

Adonis was founded by Ramseys father Naji, a key politician and influential figure in the country. Naji established for Adonis a strong presence in the market in the first few years of its existence. When Ramsey took over, he was able to further expand the operations of the company as it remained profitable year after year. In April 2001, sources indicated that the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Products was about to issue a declaration in a few days banning all meat imports from some European countries from where Adonis got most of its meat.
