The Civil Rights Acts Of 1964NameDateCollegeAbstract The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was a dreamt vision initiated in the Kennedy Administration but realized under the Johnson administration. The act was principally established to address issues resulting from discrimination evident in the United States. The United States before the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was governed by laws such as the Jim Crows laws. The Jim Crow Laws were discriminatory. The laws favored White Americans compared to other Americans such as African Americans, Latinos and other minority Americans. An apparent favoritism of these laws included permitting segregation in private and public facilities. White Americans were allowed to use the best available facilities such as schools, hospitals, roads, transport means, public parks and other facilities. In addition, senior employment positions were limited to only White Americans whereas the African Americans had to take subordinate and minor positions. After the establishment of the act, crucial steps were instigated to abolish discrimination. Besides the steps were to make certain that the Americans society was free and just. Despite the establishment of the act, it was soon noticeable that it could not address entirely issues of discrimination. In addition, different Congress members interpreted the act in order to satisfy their selfish interests. This led to criticism of the act by different scholars who felt the act was not
