Tutor description

Security in the Prison Given your outstanding performance in the efforts you put forth with regard to the Convention Center project, you have now been assigned another task by the county supervisors in Centervale. In the last 20 years, the community has decided to support a number of ballot measures to increase the punishment assigned to criminal behavior. These new initiatives have brought about new penalties and longer prison sentences for offenders. Therefore, the population in your local prison has begun to steadily increase. Knowing that building a new prison is not possible due to financial shortfalls in the city budget, you have been asked to consider security cutbacks in the prison in order to save funds. Please advise your superiors with regard to the options that have been discussed in the last city council meeting and citizen forum and commission. The city council meeting raised two key possibilities with regard to the budget cutbacks and rising cost

Title Name InstitutionDateIs the practice of hiring independent contractors a reliable way to shield the company from liability? Why?Independent contractors are benefit to the company because they fill the work needs. The independent contractors are not perceived as employees, thus it means that the company does not payroll taxes and government employment regulations do not apply to them. Therefore, the company hiring independent contractors will avoid liabilities from the government. Independent contractor helps the company design a short-term arrangement to accomplish a specific task, without the company needs to control the how the work is done. (Pisha Law PC, 2015) The company does not have legal responsibility for the contractor's misdeeds. Under the common law, the employer is held responsible for the negligence action his of the employee. However, the law does not apply when the hired independent contractor is working for the company; the company is not responsible for the negligent actions of the independent contractor. Thus, the company can shield itself from liability by hiring independent contractors. (Farlex, 2015)ReferencesFarlex. (2015, March 16). The Free Dictionary.
