Because of the major racial disparities in every aspect of the criminal justice system but especially in law enforcement the belief that police engage in racial profiling has become a prevalent belief in society. Because of the prevalent belief that police target minorities, especially African Americans, the term "Driving while Black" is used to describe the high number of minorities being stopped by police even in areas that are predominately white. When reviewing Missouri Vehicle Stops Report concerning recent law enforcement activity the 2010 Missouri State Highway Patrol report show that the majority of stops that were conducted were on the nonminority but the report shows that the percentage of minorities being searched in these stops double that of the nonminority as well as almost doubles the arrest rate.
