Adolescent Gambling in the World TodayPsy 496/Applied ProjectWithin the recent article titled, "Evaluating the role of social marketing campaigns to prevent youth gambling problems," (Messerlian, Derevensky, 2011) an attempt was made to discourage teens and adolescents from gambling; such techniques as questionnaires and interviews, were used in the process by researchers, in order to form a hypothesis. Within this article is good insight about how exactly the Qualitative method is implemented in the use of research for social studies. Judging from the context of the article, it seems as if the author is contending that media and other sources are promoting the adult lifestyle, and thus, making it more appealing to the younger generation, placing young kids and teens at risk, and even going so far as to say these kids stand a chance to falling into this habit of gambling. When this article was published four-years ago, the authors took a stand that gambling was like a new epidemic that found its way into our culture and is spreading like wild-fire, affecting most of all the population in the United States, not excluding our youth. The qualitative study proposed in this article was performed by scouting nine schools, and constructing thirty-focus groups of kids throughout each of the nine schools. These schools were spread out and scouted not only in large, suburban cities but also rural towns as well in Ontario and Southeastern Cana
