By studying the correlation between the two different orientations of leadership and our data collection, the authors hope to narrow down why LPC favors one leadership style over the other. The United States Military has always been on the forefront of developing quality leaders, and has been the testing ground for many different leadership theories. Military leadership is defined as influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation, while operating to accomplish the mission and improve the organization (Headquarters Department of the Army, 2007).
