Chapter 46
Summary

Celeste drives home thinking about the last time she had seen Eleni, Saxon Banks’ wife, and wonders if she should tell her about Jane’s allegation. It is unbelievable that the man Eleni had first met was capable of hurting a young teenager. Celeste wonders if both Perry and Saxon have the same genetic mental disorder (Moriarty 229). Unsurprisingly, she believes that Perry’s fury is reasonable, but views Saxon as an evil person.

Analysis

Knowing what Saxon had done to Jane is bothering Celeste. As a victim, she seems to relate with Jane’s misfortunes given that both cousins — Perry and Saxon — have a history of abusive practices.
