Chapter 63
Summary

Mrs. Ponder refers Jane and Ziggy to her daughter’s salon to delouse Ziggy’s hair (Moriarty 293). While there, the hair stylist suggests that Jane gets a haircut — something that she does not bother much with. But Mrs. Ponder’s daughter insists, telling Ziggy that he will not recognize his mom once she has her hair done.

Analysis

It is apparent that having lice in Ziggy’s hair could have triggered more school politics–related drama. To ensure that Ziggy does not face further victimization, Jane ensures that there is no parent from his kindergarten around at the salon before agreeing to Ziggy’s delousing.
