The Knife of Never Letting Go
Patrick Ness

Chapter 22
Summary

When Wilf states, “Ain’t nobody listen to Wilf,” he confirms Viola and Todd's suspicion about his ignorance and lack of intelligence. It also shows the likelihood of his settlement being attacked and destroyed because others in his settlement may fail to listen to his warning. When Wilf warns them about the rain and, they ignore him because the skies are clear, it confirms that people do not take his advice seriously. The difference between Aaron and Pastor Marc’s preaching styles can be attributed to the different lives led by the two groups. People on the spaceship are filled with hope about the state of the New World while those in Prentisstown had lost hope and believe it is the end of time.
