Carolyn gets it right at the last minute after suggesting sukhumi as the password. The virus is disarmed. After the detonation of the virus, Casey wants to keep her eyes locked to her computer to ensure that America is safe from the attack. Duncan and his team are headed to the white house. Liz calls and claims that the phone used to communicate with Nina was found at the vice president’s office. Suliman gets the message that the virus is disabled, which makes him sad since his dream of destroying America is crashed. A soldier gets in with fruits and a drink and asks if Sulliman was okay. Duncan has arrived at the white house. Every person showers him with congratulatory messages. Duncan meets his daughter, Lily, who is excited and happy to see him. Duncan and his old friend, Danny, are celebrating. Danny commends himself for encouraging the president to focus on detonating the virus. Duncan has other matters to attend to and asks his friend to leave for a briefing with his staff. Carolyn and the president have a discussion and Duncan gives Carolyn the messages between Nina and the traitor who they assume to be the vice president. The password override was in those messages. Duncan admits that he knew the password override before but wanted to engage the team for the answer since it was a way of finding the traitor. Duncan hoped that Carolyn would not be the one to get it right. However, getting it right implied that she was that traitor. Soon, Liz came in and arrested Carolyn for conspiring to commit treason. Carolyn, one of the people Duncan trusts, is the traitor. Duncan requests for two minutes and wants to ask Carolyn why he would do this to him. Carolyn threatens that is she is accused of treason she will take along the vice president with her since she had the phone that Nina communicated with on the other side. Carolyn wanted to become the vice president hence explaining her actions of colluding with terrorists and later appearing as a hero. However, she is arrested and cannot face the president eye-to-eye. Sulliman is disappointed with the state of America since he hoped the virus would detonate affecting America severely. He finds out that Nina had placed the password override. Eventually, soldiers attack Sulliman leading to his ultimate death.

Analysis

Duncan has finally disarmed the virus implying that all his efforts have been fruitful. He is happy and proud of the help he has received from his team. These chapters make a reader agree with the president that the vice president is the leak. However, the virus is detonated finally and no cause for alarm. From these chapters, a reader can see that Nina created the override without Sulliman’s knowledge. The chapter shows that the president was on a mission to disarm the virus and he would return only after completing his mission. The help that Duncan gets from his friend helps him work and ensure that he saves America from the wiper virus attack. Duncan trust for Carolyn is evident in these chapters. He entrusts Carolyn with the text message conversations between Nina and the traitor. This shows that Duncan is wise and he wanted to get the traitor. He tricked his staff, which led him into getting the traitor who was not the vice president as initially presumed. Carolyn is not as loyal or good as a reader would think initially. She is the reason behind the leak of information about the dark ages. Duncan has found the traitor. He had suspected the vice president but his suspicions were wrong. Sulliman did not know why the virus was deactivated. He learned from the media about the password override. Besides, he is killed, which makes a reader relieved that America is free from any other wiper virus attack from Sulliman.
