Author?s Biography

Cormac McCarthy is a renowned American writer, known for his Gothic and Western-style books. The author has also received many prestigious awards as a creator of a unique genre of modern-day adventure.

The author's style is unique. He does not use punctuation and tries to give the reader a complex narrative without too many semantic accents. Although some critics consider this way of writing a little bit bizarre, most believe that this is actually a defining trait of its style that makes the narrative more captivating.

During his lifetime he wrote a series of novels that have made their mark in the literary world. He gained notoriety after he launched his work entitled "Bloody Meridian" in 1985. Set in the middle of the nineteenth century, the action of the novel prefigured a western with horror valences, following the adventures of a teenage boy in the Texas-Mexico border, together with a frightening band led by a man with blood stained hands.

Another acclaimed creation of the author was "No Country of Old Men" published in 2005 and is that type of book that is easy to read but hard to forget. It is also one of his most read pieces. The novel is characterized by a dynamic composition, represented by psychological dialogues, betrayals, and war.

McCarthy's "The Road" is an extraordinary novel, impressive, revolting, but persuasive, and last but not least, thrilling. When the end of the world comes, pessimists will say that it will most certainly look like the author depicted it in his book; with no heroes, no brave deeds, only people constantly on the road, running away and hiding, surviving, sometimes at the cost of humanity.
