Chapter 8
Summary

This chapter aims to explain the act of Donald Trump meeting with Russian president, Vladimir Putin, as not being a crime. The First Amendment to the United States Constitution allows individuals to associate with whoever they choose to, including the Russians. In addition, the law went ahead to explain how this freedom could be beneficial to the people since it offers a chance to exchange ideas or even knowledge. Subsequently, this chapter states that it is not accurate to imply that Trump had met with Putin to make plans on how to rig the elections.

Analysis

There had been a meeting in June 2016 between Donald Trump Jr. and Natalia Veselniktskaya, who was a lawyer of Russian origin. The meeting was carried out in Trump Tower, and people assumed that the lawyer had negative information relating to Hillary Clinton. While it is true that the 2016 election period in the United States was filled with tension, this should not provide an opportunity for people to make assumptions. The Democrats used this meeting as evidence to show that Russia was colluding with Trump in a bid to alter the election results during this period.
